Biggin Hall Country House HotelThe best walking and cycling in the Peak District lies on our doorstep.Biggin Hall is ideally placed for those who enjoy walking or cycling in the Derbyshire Peak District. The area has a contrasting mixture of dales, mountains and moorlands and the countryside around Biggin Hall offers some of the best walking in the Peak District, from easy riverside strolls to gruelling hikes over moorland and mountain. Not far from Biggin Hall are the Tissington and High Peak Trails, disused former railway lines, which provide walkers, cyclists, horseriders and naturalists with fine scenic routes though the limestone countryside. Some of the best cycling routes in the Peak District go almost right past our front door. Here are just a few from the www.go4awalk.com website: This walk, walk 134, takes in nearby Wolfscote Dale and the Tissington Trail, Biggin Dale and Biggin. Walk 153 takes in Wolfscote Dale & Biggin Dale from Tissington, passing Biggin Hall along the way. Walk 207 also takes in Wolfescote Dale & Biggin Dale, passing Biggin Hall, but starts from Hartington Walk 327 is a shorter version of walk 207, taking in Biggin Dale & Wolfscote Dale from Hartington. There are also a selection of excellent walks on the Peak District site of Cressbrook Multimedia - here are a couple close to Biggin Hall: Walk 38 Takes in Beresford and Wolfscote Dales, passing Biggin Hall. There are two variants - a longer walk and a shorter version. Walk 40 takes in Dovedale from Alstonefield, which is only 5 minutes drive from Biggin Hall. Again there are two variants of the walk - a longer version and short walk. The Cressbrook website also has several Peak District cycling routes which pass by the door or close to Biggin Hall, and could easily be started from Biggin Hall: Cycle route 3 - starts at Parsley Hey to and goes to Hartington via Heathcote - a hamlet close to Biggin Hall - before returning. It is a fairly gentle circuit. Cycle route 2 - takes the Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail to Parwich and returns via Biggin. Cycle route 6 - starts from Parsley Hey and goes via the Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail to Brassington, returning via Tissington village and Biggin.
